Apple sold 2.52 million iPhones in the first three months of the year, according to the company’s third quarter financial results released Thursday.
The company reported sales of 2.72 million iPhones during the period, a gain of nearly 4.1% compared with the same period last year.
Apple’s iPhone sales increased by 5.9% in the third quarter compared to the same quarter last year, and the company also added more than 1 million iPhones to its existing inventory.
Apple sold 2,551,000 iPhones in its fiscal third quarter, a 5.3% increase over the previous quarter.
Apple also reported sales growth of nearly 8% in its consumer electronics division, which includes iPads and iPhones.
The results come amid a growing focus on the iPad and iPhones as the main devices of the future for Apple.
Apple plans to introduce a new iPad in the second half of the decade.
