Cisco Systems has launched the Beacon Health system, a cloud-based, secure healthcare monitoring platform.
The company said the Beacon will be available later this year.
“Bees can track, analyze and act on a wide variety of healthcare data including cardiac, respiratory and neurological conditions,” said Jason Mazer, chief executive officer of Cisco Systems.
“Bees are incredibly smart and can respond quickly to information.
With the Beacon, Cisco is creating a new platform that will bring real-time, continuous monitoring to healthcare professionals.”
A healthcare monitor is a device that uses sensors to record and transmit information about health conditions and behaviors, such as heart rate, blood pressure and skin temperature.
Bees, which are native to China, have become a huge hit in the healthcare industry, particularly in China.
The company is also expanding its presence in India, Africa and the Middle East.
Last month, Cisco announced the acquisition of the company for an undisclosed amount, valued at more than $1 billion.
