An ABC News analysis has found that “systemic” racism is an umbrella term that includes racism that is “unintentionally rooted in a system or society”.
In Australia, it is defined as racism that arises from the power imbalance between white and non-white Australians.
It also includes racism in other parts of society, such as the criminal justice system, where racism is a result of systemic racism and systemic racism is not.
The ABC’s analysis of the Racial Discrimination Act in Australia found that racism was widespread in Australia and included “systems that are not inherently racist or discriminatory”.
The ABC has also reported on the effects of racism on Aboriginal people in Australia, who are often referred to as the “Black sheep” in society.
They are often overlooked in terms of how we perceive Aboriginal people.
